Brent Cross Charity Bursary

Each year we select a local charity or two charities to be the recipient of our charity bursary. In addition to receiving a cash donation, we seek to maximise the charity partnership through providing mall space and opportunities for colleagues to engage, volunteer and support in fundraising activities and events.

The Hammerson Charity Partner Bursary Scheme has been set up to support charities that undertake vital work within the local community.  Each year, we invite local charities to apply for a bursary where, following a review, shortlisting and vote process, one or two charities will receive funding.

Charities will receive a bursary of £5,000 (one charity) or £2,500 (two charities).

All applicants must have a clear presence in the community local to Brent Cross, delivering a tangible impact on the lives of people in our area.

To be eligible for a charity bursary, applicants must be a registered charity with a charity registration number. Our Brent Cross colleagues are committed to providing holistic support to our charity bursary partners above and beyond funding. We ask that bursary recipients:

  • Have a regular presence at Brent Cross, whether this is through fundraising or awareness raising activities, work experience/employment/careers education opportunities for beneficiaries or collaborating on community events.

  • Where possible, provide a minimum of one volunteering opportunity for Brent Cross colleagues to provide practical support to the charity.

  • Provide a report at the end of the bursary year with an overview of how the funding was spent including outcomes and impacts.

  • Support our annual volunteering day. Each year in June Hammerson colleagues and partners celebrate Giving Back Day, when all employees volunteer in their communities. We encourage charity bursary partners to take an active role in supporting this initiative.

As a general rule, we do not support charities with religious or political connections/affiliation unless they address a local need aligned to our strategy.

Charities wishing to apply for a bursary should complete the form below and return it to charity@bxsc.co.uk by 14/03/2025. Charities will be notified of the outcome by 31/03/2025.

Please note: due to the high volume of bursary applications received, unfortunately we cannot always provide specific feedback to unsuccessful charities.
